A young lady – 22 years – student in a college was diagnosed with Leukemia 2 years back and was treated at a high end hospital – the father is a carpenter and he sold everything, all jewelries to treat the girl. 2 years later there is a relapse.
The father has no means of treating the child. The girl’s friends – from school, on knowing her condition, gathered together to find a way to help their friends. The girl is undergoing treatment in a hospital, which is not economically priced, as the father is not aware of where else to go to.
As I heard they went around in the hospital trying to find the details of treatment costs, etc. helped the father to find ways to finance the treatment. Somehow a few of the friends, – Dipika is their leader – learnt about a Doctor there who helps as much as possible anyone with difficulties.
Health is the best treasure one can have ! Happiness flows where Health is present !
The Doctor – Dr. M – told me it was unnerving to see 6 girls coming into her room and sobbing and telling about her friend in the Oncology ward. Dipika requested if the friend can be helped. Dr. M knew me, as 3 years back we had helped a nursing student who had breast cancer, and gave my number.
Dipika called me – passionately talked about her friend and her condition. I was floored by the sincerity, affection she has for her friend, and the passion with which she was going about to help her friend. RCRF is trying to help – we will see the outcome.
I feel absolutely floored to see the power of friendship that makes a timid girl to take the lead and help her friend. When the elders might have taken things in a philosophical manner, these youngsters wanted to help their friends, taking every single lead to find a solution.
One has to be there to observe and feel the goodness in these youngsters.
